How To Actually Enjoy A Long Ride On A Coach Bus

Posted on

Taking a coach bus can be a really convenient, affordable way to get from place to place. These buses are made for long voyages. Most have reclining seats and a bathroom on board, and some even have televisions and WiFi. Nevertheless, staying comfortable on a bus for hours on end is not always easy. You'll want to follow these tips to help you actually enjoy the experience.

Dress comfortably and in layers.

Coach buses are usually air-conditioned and heated, and the driver will aim to set the temperature so that it's comfortable. But what's comfortable for one person may be a little too chilly or a little too warm for you. Dress in thin layers. This way, you can take layers off or put them on, as needed, in order to stay comfortable regardless of the bus temperature.

Bring snacks and drinks.

On long coach trips, it is standard for the bus to stop every few hours so that the passengers can get a bite to eat or buy drinks. However, these stops may not take place when you are hungry or thirsty. So, it is a good idea to bring at least a few of your own drinks and snacks on the trip. This way, you won't spend hours just waiting for the next stop because your tummy is grumbling.

Save the restroom for "emergencies."

If you have to go while on the bus, then the bathroom is there for you to use. However, the bathrooms on coach buses can sometimes become smelly with over-use. So, things tend to work best if you and the other passengers all use the bathroom before you leave, and then use the bathrooms at any rest stops that are made. This minimizes the number of times you'll have to use the bus bathroom, which helps keep odors at bay.

Bring a book, headphones, and other entertainment.

You might figure you'll entertain yourself by looking out the window and admiring the landscape. However, this tends to only be fun for so long. Bring some headphones and download a few podcasts. Also, bring a book or two. It is nice to have some options to change up your day or night on a really long coach ride.

With the tips above, you are likely to have a better time on your coach ride. You can implement these tips whether your ride will last 3 hours, 13 hours, or more.
